- Domaines d'activités : Assurance , Avionique , Aéronautique
- Fournisseur : ISIT
This Extension provides all objectives, activities and lifecycle data of ED-12C / DO-178C (Airborne Software) and ED-109A / DO-278A (CNS/ATM Software).
It can be supplemented by supplemental considerations, e.g., ED-215 / DO-330 (Software Tool Qualification), ED-218 / DO-331 (Model-based Design), ED-217 / DO-332 (Object-Oriented Technologies) or ED-216 / DO-333 (Formal Methods).
Airborne Software Development Assurance
ED-12C / DO-178C is recognized means for showing compliance with the applicable initial airworthiness regulations with regard to the software aspects of airborne systems and equipment (cf. EASA AMC 20-115D or US DOT/FAA AC 20-115D).
ED-12C / DO-178C provides safety-critical software assurance guidance in the form of:
ED-12C / DO-178C provides safety-critical software assurance guidance in the form of:
1. Objectives for 9 software life cycle processes (1 planning, 4 development & 4 integral processes);
2. Activities that provide a means for satisfying the objectives; and
3. Descriptions of the evidence indicating that the objectives have been satisfied (i.e., Software Lifecycle Data).
The selection of an application lifecycle management (ALM) tool, such as Siemens Polarion, is usually taken by the Development Team with the support of Project Management.
ISIT has developed this extension in order to provide the Software Quality Assurance team with the actionable elements of ED-12C / DO-178C (i.e., all objectives, all activities and lifecycle data, including definitions), as a standalone readily deployable package to support software assurance assessment in the selected ALM.
Siemens Polarion
Siemens Polarion ALM which is a software application lifecycle management (ALM) tool, which is in support of the following software processes :
This extension is intended to primarily support the Software Quality Assurance (SQA) and Certification Liaison teams by providing the contents of ED-12C / DO-178C as an add-on to an existing Polarion installation.
- Software Requirements Process (e.g., the Software Requirements Data contains the High-Level Requirements (HLR) / derived HLR and their Trace Data, and are under configuration management in Polarion),
- Software Design Process (e.g., LLR / derived LLR),
- Software Integration Process,
- Software Configuration Management Process.

The following contents are included in this extension as Work Items, in support of Software Quality Assurance process activities :
- All Objectives from all processes (i.e., 10 Tables, for a total of 71 objectives) as published in Annex A of ED-12C / DO-178C ;
- All Activities, as referenced by all objectives and as published in their respective Sections of ED-12C / DO-178C ;
- All Software Lifecycle Data as published in Section 11 of ED-12C / DO-178C ;
- All Definitions, as published in the Glossary of ED-12C / DO-178C.

NOTE : These generic software approval reviews are intended to be tailored to the software lifecycle and have been included for historical reasons only.
